Jon Good—better known as “Bueno”—was born and raised in San Diego, where he grew up sailing, surfing, and skateboarding. As a member of the Southwestern Yacht Club Juniors program, Jon spent his early years fishing the docks of the club and deep sea fishing the Pacific Coast. He won his first dock fishing tournament at just seven years old, sparking a lifelong connection to the water. He went on to attend culinary school and study hospitality management in San Francisco, later working in acclaimed kitchens in Aspen, Lake Tahoe, and San Diego. In 2010, he made the move to Idaho as the Executive Chef and Owner of Ponds Lodge in Island Park, where he quickly fell in love with the area, its rivers, and the fly fishing community. After more than two decades in the hospitality industry, Jon made the leap in 2021 to join TroutHunterand pursue guiding full time. By tailoring each day to his clients’ goals, Jon creates a relaxed, enjoyable experience while delivering quality fishing and memorable moments for anglers of every skill level. When he’s not behind the oars, you’ll likely find him spending time with his black lab, Henry, enjoying a round of golf, chasing steelhead with a spey rod, or heading out on saltwater trips during the off-season.
