Back in 1999, Marty began his life as a guide on the world famous Henry’s Fork. He didn’t know much about rowing at that time, so his first trip down the Box Canyon was a rather long walk behind his new drift boat. Over the next few years, Marty developed some rowing skills, got the moniker “The One Man Party”, and began guiding in Argentina.
For six years “Un Hombre Fiesta” as he was known in the South, lived the endless summer dream. Marty had a son, Robert Joseph Reed II, in 2005 at which time he decided that months away in South America were no longer an option. He took out a big loan, attended pharmacy school, and continued to guide in the summer. Dr. Reed now works as a full-time pharmacist. On his days off, he enjoys guiding dedicated clients who are willing to work around his schedule to experience Marty’s self-deprecating wit and uncanny ability to find big fish.
