Jamie McLean Band Live @ TroutHunter, Sunday & Monday, July 23rd & 24th. 9pm. FREE.
Best known for providing his tasteful guitar textures to the New Orleans-based jazz outfit the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Jamie McLean has garnered worldwide praise for his fretboard mastery. Backed by a dynamic voice loaded with soul, McLean’s transformation from sideman to front man of the Jamie McLean Band has been seamless. With drops of southern roots rock, blues, R&B, funk and soul oozing from their amplifiers, the Jamie McLean Band offers “honest rock and roll” that pulls no punches. Night in and night out, Jamie McLean’s performances are smothered in soul and confident command of the six-string. Take the straightforward, no-nonsense rock of the Rolling Stones and The Black Crowes and mix in the personal sincerity of Ryan Adams and Tom Petty and the result is the Jamie McLean Band.
Jamie McLean had a big decision to make in 2006. He could continue to tour the globe as the guitarist for New Orleans’ famed Dirty Dozen Brass Band playing sets at Madison Square Garden, Bonnaroo and Japan’s Fuji Rock. Or he could do it his way, take the road less traveled and begin to lead Jamie McLean Band. It seemed as though there was only one option.
“It was certainly a tough choice to leave my bread and butter gig but I could feel it in my heart that I needed to be singing and recording and performing my own music. I’ve never been happier!”
McLean have been relentlessly touring and recording with Jamie McLean Band which also features Brian Griffin on drums and Ben Mars on bass. Jamie McLean Band has released 6 albums, Live At Gibson (2012), Sunday Morning (2011), Time Of My Life (2011), Completely (2010), American Heartache (2008) and This Time Around (2006).
The band has hit the road with the likes of Gregg Allman, Dr. John, Taj Mahal, Drive By Truckers, Tedeschi/Trucks Band, Blues Traveler, North Mississippi Allstars, Joan Armatrading, Jackie Greene, and Gov’t Mule. Jamie Mclean Band appeared at festivals such as Bonnaroo, Mountain Jam, Gathering of the Vibes, Quebec Summer Fest, Ottowa Blues, Bele Chere, Sweetwater Festival, Warren Haynes’ Christmas Jam and Great Woods Music to name a few.
Jamie McLean Band is now set to release their long awaited album One and Only. Recorded at the famed Sound Emporium studios in Nashville One and Only captures the band’s strongest songwriting to date. The album was produced by Ken Coomer of Wilco and features special guests Sam Bush and Jeff Coffin of Dave Matthews Band. Live staples “Virginia” and “One and Only” finally get a beautiful studio performance and Jamie McLean Band will tour behind their new album throughout the US and Canada this year!
